About Marcin Plaza


Marcin Plaza  was born on October 29, 1972 in Wroclaw  where he finished  Primary and Secondary School of Music (under the patronage of Karol Szymanowski). Between 1991 and 1997 he studied at the Academy of Music  in Wroclaw ,in the piano class of Prof. Obidowicz. During his studies  he commenced  co-operating with various artists , giving concerts in his country as well as abroad  and he  also conducted bands in many Wroclaw’s  theatres.
Since 1997, Marcin Plaza has been taking part in a  Stage Song Festival as an arranger, composer and music director. In 1997, at the age of 25 , he became  a music director of ‘Teatr 12’  and a year later,he was appointed  music director of IMPART, well-known Wroclaw’s Art Centre.

 

He is a recipient of the Outstanding Appearance Award 1997, which is presented by the Mayor of Wroclaw  to artists whose cultural achievements were  most spectacular on the musical and theatrical
scene of the city.


Musical performances arranged for Stage Song Festival:

1995

arranger and music director of Konrad Imiela’s ‘Unkle Tom’s Hut or Swordfish Trombone’           which included Tom Waits songs translated by Roman Kolakowski and directed by Wojciech Koscielniak.
1996

music director of 17th Actors’ Song Interpretation Contest and a musical ‘Ksiezyc Frajer’ based on the songs by Jerema Stepowski and directed by W. Koscielniak.

1997

Arranger and music director of the main concert of 18th Stage Song Festival Festival , entitled ‘La, la , la’. The performance was directed by Koscielniak and based on the compositions of Stanislaw Staszewski i. e. ‘Kazik’s’ father. 

1998

Music to the performance ‘Basn chaotyczna’, directed by Koscielniak and based on the lyrics by Karl Michael Bellman staged in ‘Teatr 12’ in Wroclaw.

1999

Arranger and music director of  Actors’ Song Interpretation Contest which  took place during 20th Stage Song Festival  directed by Andrzej Strzelecki,received an award for the performance of a song ‘¦nicosc’.   

2000

Arranger and music director of the performance ‘Kawalerskie noce’ directed by Laco Adamic, scenography by Jerzy Duda Gracz, based on the songs of Kazimierz Grzeskowiak

2001

Music director and arranger of the performance ‘Bodajbo’, directed by Jan Szurmiej,starring ,inter alia ,Aleksander Domogarow, Justyna steczkowska, Pawel Kukiz, Wiktor Zborowski, Marian Opania, Kinga Preis.
Composed the  music for the play "Bajka o sercu ze strychu" written and directed by  Maciej Kowalewski ,staged at  Polish Theatre, 2004.
